I have just looked at that website too. Why don't you phone someone at the parish? Someone there should know what happened as the website says 'Under powers obtained in the St. Mary's Alverstoke Burial Act of 1965 the North side graveyard was cleared for the construction of the Parish Centre' The number is on the website. I've been on the web site for St marys church and it mentioned an addition burial ground was opened in 1805 at Green Road and this is infact on the map of 1878? and closed in 1854 hence me hoping this would be the one for my relie but after reading on it said it was closed in 1965 |

You could try calling Ann's Hill Cemetery, Gosport. Someone there may be able to point you in the right direction. 023 9258 0181 Maureen |

Would anyone off hand be able to tell me what happened to the bodies in the GREEN ROAD Cemetery in Alverstoke when they were 'cleared' in 1965 to make way for housing. I've been trying to find my gt gt gt grandfathers grave who died in 1853 at Haslar. Im rapidly running out of cemeteries to find him in and have been unable to find him on any burial lists. |
