Solomon Thomas Sholl The Times newspaper of 9th January 1875. There is a report of him trying to pass a counterfeit florin in a bar in Walworth Road, the landlady sent for the police who tried to arrest him. He then threatened to kill the policeman and pulled out a knife and cut the policeman's hand, he also kicked a passerby who tried to help the policeman - he was then overpowered. In the Times issue of 24th January he was sentenanced to 5 years penal servitude, the court was told that he had already served 12months hard labour (in the 2nd Feb issue). He was freed in 1880 asfound him on the 1881 census aged 24 but nothing after that. We think he might have emigrated to one of the colonies and hope he made good, but how would we find out if he did or not? |

In the Times issue of 24th January he was sentanced to 5 years penal servitude, the court was told that he had already served 12months hard labour found this by joining the above libary site, but can anyone offer any further help advice or details about Solomon. |
