Does anyone know when the Electoral Rolls started again after WW2 Please. I am looking for a Catherine Matilda Chamberlain nee Higginbottom. Catherine was in the Timber Corp(Land Army)in Knaresborough North Yorkshire.Home Address Leeds West Yorkshire She married Frederick Edwin Chamberlain 26th April 1943 at Knaresborough Rgister Office. Frederick Edwin was a Private No 5772286 in the Royal Norfolk Regiment. He was Born in West Huntington London. All this information is from Their Marriage certificate. I have hit a massive brick wall with this couple as I have no Idea where they went to live after the war. Suexxx |

Apart from the last year or so, I don't believe there is any searchable name index for the Electoral Rolls, so I'm not sure where this will get you. If you know the address you can ask to see the Roll at the main Library for the area, and this will tell you who lived there, but I don't think you can search on a name to find an address. If anyone knows otherwise then please shout out. |

Depending on the area Electoral Rolls were kept from mid to late 1800's onwards. To find out what years are available for the area that you wish to look in, check out www.familia.org.uk for the local studies library that you are interested in. There will be contact information available when you choose the area you are interested in. |
