I use ZoneAlarm, Internet Security Suite. It is brilliant. Since it was installed a couple of weeks ago, it has blocked 491 access attempts, over 250 of which were high rated, and treated 6 spies. At the moment it is on offer and costs $49.95 which converts to £25.46 at the moment. You can download it from the internet. Visit Zonelabs(.)com. This is what it tells you. The Most Complete Internet Security Protects you online and off. Blocks the full spectrum of threats on your computer and in the physical world. Stops threats before they infect your PC. While other suites only detect and remove malicious programs, ZoneAlarm prevents attacks on your system. Easy to set up and use. Simple to install and run, the intuitive interface tailors the program to meet your needs Liz |

But there are so many threads on here/general about the probs caused by Norton. Try googling for best anti virus programs - you will find the security companies have tested them and then rate them for you. |

If you specifically want Norton it might be cheaper to buy a New version. In January, I bought Norton 2006 form Amazon for £16 and it comes with a years subscription. Good Luck Tina x |

You get what you pay for in my opinion. Norton or McAfee are the best. |

My son, who knows far more than me about computers (works with them, and has built them in the past) always goes with Norton on our computers. We bought a new Dell computer last year and he took McAfee off it and installed Norton instead. As already mentioned - you get what you pay for. Kath. x |

If you want the whole caboodle from avg instead of just anti virus it works out about £18 a year and includes av, firewall, antispam, spy buster etc. I have the free avg and other free ad ons but if you are the sort of person who wants it all in one package £18 a year is pretty good. |

The reason that it updates every few days is that it is updating virus definitions. As new viruses are written, the corresponding 'innoculation' also has to be written, hence the regular updates to ensure everything is completely up to date - all anti virus programmes do it. I recommend Zone Alarm for a firewall and then for anti malware try Spybot Search and Destroy, Spywareblaster, AdAware and X-Cleaner.They all do slightly different things and are all free. |

Try Panda Platinum (about £9 - £12) on Ebay - the best anti-virus, anti-spyware etc for the money. Daily upadtes, advises of protection level and flashes up if you have trojans trying to get in. Have been using this for about 3 years now and wouldn't go back to any of the others. |

Go to http://free.grisoft(.)com/doc/1 from where you can download AVG Antivirus and AVG Anti Spyware. (Remove Brackets) If you're useing Windows suggest you go to Windows Update and follow the instructions from there. It's important to keep your poota updated. Windows Defender is also worth while having. Merv |

If you get AVG FREE you'll then also need to get a Firewall and some anti spyware because AVG FREE is only an anti virus product. Cheers, Horatia |

AVG is good - and it's FREE!!! The only 'problem' is that it keeps updating every few days. lol. Seems excellent to me. |

Mt norton package is up for renewal and I was shocked to discover they want £40 just to renew. Does anyone have any better suggestions, I dont mind paying but object to being ripped off! thanks Sophie |
