Hi, I have tried but can not find my man on the 1861 census, could anyone else see if they can find him please. His name is William Charles Hodges b.1852 in Severn Stoke, Worcester. His parents names were William Hodges and Anne. Would really appreciate if anyone can find them on the census. Thanks in advance. Alison |

Hi Could it be that William Hodges, the father had died and Ann remarried Job Herbert? Cheers Clare |

Thanks for that, I was beginning to think along that line myself. Although father William had definitely not died as he appeared on son William's m.cert later. However, I wonder if he and Ann divorced and she remarried. I am asking GRO to check a b.cert of one of Ann Herbert's and Job's children to see if it states that her name was formerly Hodges, maiden name Wiltshire. If not then I figure I've only lost out 3 pounds. I guess that's the only way to know for sure. Alison |

just because he is named on the marriage cert, doesn't mean he was still alive. Vicar asks Q What was your fathers name Reply -Joe Bloggs and his occupation... Reply- Milkman The 'is he alive' Q hasn't been asked , nor has the info been given by anyone, hence not recorded |
