I am trying to find any information on my family. I have just started this and am finding it difficult to find any sites that cover Australia. I am finding a lot for the UK and America but the side of my family that I am searching for at the moment came out on the first fleet. Anyone know of good Australian sites? Thanks Kate

You could have a look at this as a starter. http://members.iinet.net.au/~perthdps/convicts/1stfleet.html and also http://www.records.nsw.gov.au/guides/short_guide_12_10000.asp and this one http://www.naa.gov.au/the_collection/family_history.html Gail. x

Hi Kate First Fleeters came to NSW so start with www(dot)bdm.nsw.gov.au indexes to all bdms in NSW from 1788. Pre 1856 are baptism and burials, and not always much detail. Also investigate NSW Archives www(dot)records.nsw.gov.au there are plenty of sites with information on individual convicts, including 'Claim a Convict' - just google FIRST FLEET CONVICTS, or just google the name with First Fleet.
