I suppose I just never thought that Hugh Frankish came from anywhere except Cumberland. Just shows you to keep an open mind. Thanks

Thanks Lynne, will chase up this marriage, I thought that Frankish was a fairly unusual name but never been able to find a marriage. I don't know when John was born either. PS The dog has had his lunch and walk and now asleep on sofa!! I've also had to feed the other half.

You need to check the full indexes on Ancestry. When was their son born? It would give an indication of when to start looking. Sam x

Can anyone find this marriage please as it’s driving me mad. My great aunt, Catherine Davidson, also known as Kate, was born in 1894 at Kirkandrews, Longtown, Cumbria. I have her last in 1901 age 6yrs with her family. According to my uncle she married Hugh Frankish. Hugh served in WW1 and was badly gassed and apparently never worked again. I have no idea when they married, but they had a son John Frankish an lived in Carlisle. I hope when the new WW1 Pensions information gets to H, I might find him on there. Thanks & if I don’t get back straight away it’s because the dog is picketing the kitchen for his lunch. Jennifer

After the clue you gave me about name may be Cyril Hugh Frankish, I have found the birth of the son Cyril John Frankish in 1925 in Brampton, Cumberland. I'm pretty sure this is the right one as this is the family home town. Thanks Jennifer
