I am a student at Edinburgh College of Art studying 2nd year Sculpture. I have recently exhibited a piece which is based on some old family photographs which I found at Market Harbour Antique fair, Leicestershire, in the summer of last year. These photographs have no direct link to me, I do not know these people, they are not relatives of mine however I am interested in researching this family as my ultimate aim is to return lost memorabilia to their rightful owners witch I see as the relatives or close family friends. I only have limited information to help me with my search. I have a few names and newspaper cuttings of what happened to two members of this family named Charles and Hilda Davies. They both lived and died in Wolverhampton. They lived at 12 Argyle Road, they passed away on the 14th and 15th of January 1971. Both passed away in separate hospitals. Mr Davis went to the Royal Hospital and his wife was taken to New Cross. Both had a joint funeral at St.Luke’s Church and were then cremated at Bushbury. At the time of their death their neighbours were Mr and Miss Black well. There are also references to number 40 Ednam-Road, Goldthorn Park, and number 32 Hawthorn Road. I have a wide variety of photographs, most are loose photographs from around the 1950s to 70s but I also have some old Victoria prints, postcards and 2 albums, one of which seams to be in the process of completion. Also contained in the box is a hymn booklet which may be from the funeral and references to suggest that they may have been Catholic. I am sorry to cause you any inconvenience but I am relatively new to the process off retracing family history and would be very grateful if you have any information that could possibly help me with my search.

If you haven't yet bought copies of their death certificates these may help by giving the name of the informant. Sue

Bushbury staff were really helpful when we went there and asked about the grave of a recently found relative. Maybe they have something in their records that could help you find any DAVIS family. Have you had any luck following up the possible Charles Henry DAVIS b. in Willenhall, shown on 1901 census? Gwyn
