I've just been looking over the parish records for Bottesford in Leicestershire. Within approximately a 150 year period, I found these: John Batman, Sansam Bend, Soresby Bothamley, Craddock Cragg, Augustin Pridmore Geeson, Calcrafta Guy, Demetrius Judson, Bathiah Johnson, Wright Guy (I like that one), John Trophemus Lane (son of Trophemus Lane), Peninnah Riley, Sansam Searsy, Wisdom Taylor, Hephzila Taylor and John Charles Lavender Wood. In my own tree, I have a Swifton Foxon, Hedley Branston, Rowland Wacey Clark, Smith Ethards Dring, Virtue Dring, Roseatta Haylett, Etheldreda Landon, Ferguson Mason, Searson Norris, James Pretoria Rotheram and Silvester Orlando Smith. Then again, when you get, say, three James Smiths just in one section of the tree, at least the interesting names make it a bit easier. Makes you think, what were the parents thinking of? |
