I'm trying to find when my g.grandfather died. Leonard Philip Isaacs was born in Leicester in 1896, and I think he would have died approximately mid 1980's. His wife was called Rose. Thank you. Anne |

Not listed for 1984-2004 You will need to trawl the images on Ancestry......they are free. Just register with the site to access the records Reg |

Thanks for the reply Reg. I've read messages on here previously with regards to telephone directories. How would I be able to get information for roughly the 1980's for descendants of Leonards? Thank you Anne |

There is a death recorded Q1 1983, do you know where he died? Isaacs, Leonard Phillip, dob 3 Dec 1893, Leicester S, 6? 2409. With regard to the phone directories, what are you expecting to find? If the phone was registered in his name, children would not be listed. |

If the death reference that Keith found is the right one, then if you order it you may find that one of his children registered the death, and if so their address at the time will be given. You could then write a letter to a local newspaper in the area asking if anyone knew the whereabouts of this person who used to live at that address. Kath. x |

Hi Keith, Leonard had at least two known sons, Miles and Frederick, born in Leicester in the late 1920's and earily 30's. Thought I might just get some details from a directory from around the previous date mentioned. Regards Ane |

Ann, I dont think (someone may correct me on this) that the phone books for the 1980s are online, Ancestry has some supposedly up to 1984, but I would imagine coverage is patchy at that date. |

Hi Kath, The idea which you mentioned about the local paper might be a good avenue to explore. There is a monthly paper published in the Yorkshire area {Flashback} which covers times and years gone by. People are invited to write in with their stories, photographs and memories. Do you know if there is such a publication in the Leicester area? Anne |
