No Keith, The name didn't only come from those two pieces of info. I've been watching all the advice and help you post for everyone. I think a well deserved name. |

Hmmm have to think about this, big responsibility to live up to. The oracle. Time for bed, up early. PS Ann, that came about because I posted a GRO address before her, then gave her the address for Curiousfox! |

Compassionate leave was sometimes granted where cases of sickness or ill health/death occurred within the family, warrants would be issued probably free under the given number. Priviledge leave I think would be his normal leave entitlement (guessing there). Free warrants were issued to servicemen to enable them to visit family/friend when on service duties. I got four a year when I joined up. Warrants on warrant number I would think would apply to cases of compassionate leave where the serviceman would not be penalised by having to use one of his own leave travel warrants. Hope this helps The oracle lol. Just pasting here as updated first reply. |

Can you answer this one for me please. I have my fathers 'Soldiers Service and Pay Book'. Entries in it include Privilege Leave and Compassionate Leave some on Free Warrant and some on a Warrant Number. Do you know what the difference is please. |
