i have came up against a brick wall, cant get further than my grand parents on tree, my granda (my mothers father) Thomas Prentice born in 1920s, in Glasgow, trying to find his parents, but no one in my family ever met them, and cant remember names, tho i did find out my g/gran's name was maryanne, will i need to get my granda's birth certificate to carry on my search? and is there anywhere else i can search? thank you Tracey |

Hi Tracey, Scotland has a different system for birth registration. A lot of records are available online to view, www.Scotlandspeople is a pay per view site that MIGHT have your grandads birth cert online, I am sure some-one will correct me if the date is to late. Anyway, yes, I think you will need the birth cert to progress any further back. |

Scottish Births only up to 1906 on Scotlands People, sorry you can't find the birth there but you can order the certificate via Scotlands People if you know the year. Betty |
