Have you tried googling to see if some kind soul, possibly in Poland is willing to help you first? The trouble with professional researchers is that they can charge the earth and you never really know if the info they give you is accurate. I think a dedicated amateur would probably give you just as much help. Try googling for polish genealogy and see if anything comes up. |

Tinky, he wasnt Jewish was he, because there is a fab site for Jewish genealogy and very helpful people on there. Why I question that is because you say about different names and Jewish people use different forms of names for different events. If you know where he was registered for his birth, you could google that area and find if there are any family history sites. |

Did the Polish person move to UK.....around what time? Who registered the death of your grandfather, ...are they or their family able to enlighten you about the name? Gwyn |

Were there children born to your grandparents in UK. ? Your grandmother's name would be on their birth certificate. If anyone in their family was born in Poland and died in UK after 1969, you might get a birthplace on their death certificate.....or maybe like one that we ordered it will just say...Poland..lol. A birthplace is essential before anyone would be able to research the family. We got information through Polish army records ( in UK) for a man we knew came over c. 1945. Gwyn |
