On its way Dawn. Oh by the way, he has a number of websites - they are ranked most authoritive available on the Boer War, so google his name and you can see how brilliant he is. As has been reported, not all the WW1 service records have survived but he will tell you frankly the chances of finding them.Thats why its important to give all details. He was unable to find my grandfathers WW1 service but because I had also mentioned his Merchant Naval service he looked that up for me aswell/instead and at least sent me info and a I.D. card photo for that aspect. |

I have used a brilliant chap 3 times now for looking up military records at Kew. He normally goes most weekends, its his hobby and he is a serving serviceman. I was charged £15 - this may have gone up a bit because of increased costs in travel etc. But I have recommended him to probably a dozen people on here who have used him too. If you want his details, please contact me - send him all the info you have and he will be (very!) blunt about the likelihood or not of finding the info for you. Last time I used him, I emailed him Thursday and had the photocopies of my hubbys GGF Guards service in my hands on Monday. |

Also I think that many WWI service records were destroyed during WWII so the chances of finding what you want is probably slim. Have you looked for a medal card on the National Archives site? Sam x |

I would be wary of engaging anyone's services without a recommendation from someone you know. Ebay is a brilliant marketplace but you need your wits about you sometimes! If you search for family history or genealogy, you will several offers of research. Personally I would rather go with people who advertise in local Family History Society magazines. I am hoping someone may be able to help, i saw on ebay a whie back that someone was willing to go to the national archives and find WWI service papers for a price of about £15, i think it was on the collectables, does anyone know the name of the person or what the heading was. Many thanks for any help Madeline |
