Is it any good for Scottish searches or is it mainly English. Betty

According to their website: Which census should I use? LostCousins currently supports the 1880 US Census, the 1881 Canadian Census, the 1881 Census of Scotland, and the 1881 Census of England & Wales (which includes the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands). When you're entering your relatives you need to start by specifying the appropriate census - click the arrow, then choose from the menu. Sam x

It's not good for searches of any description. It's good for matches. They only work if someone else has put the name on the site. You can put English and Scottish census links on there, so I guess it would be good enough.

Thank you Tracy and Sam, I must have registered with them some time ago, They just keep sending me information on how I should check the site to see if there are any matches to my family. Betty

I added my details a while ago but have never had a match. However as it is free I don't see any harm in adding a few relations. They do send a useful newsletter and have a list of census mistranscriptions and maiden names which might be useful to some people. They also offer a buddy system to hunt for people in the census which might be useful for Canada and U.S.A. The more the site grows the more useful it will be. Anne
