actually there are many parish records on ancestry, if you subscribe to the uk site all data is free.

I think the important thing to mention is that the parish records don't have actual images and the number of records in the database is pretty low. Coverage varies for area to area and year to year. They are best used as a guide and should never be a primary source, the internet is just a tool and for the early records then the old fashoined methods are better than the online options at present. Even the online parish clerk (OPC) projects are limited to an extent, they have some transcribed records but very few scans of the actual images which are what you really want.

I don't even understand the results I get on Ancestry! However I have never found anything that looks as if its useful. But to answer your question - once you have paid your Ancestry sub everything is available for you to view. There are no more hidden payments. Anne
