I have discovered, or think, that my Great Grandfather was at this School in 1881. Does anyone know where I find the admissions for this School. Would it be the LMA or Natonal Archives? Any help appreciated. Linda

Linda GOOGLE ...'London District School, Hanwell' ....theres the 1881 census for the whole school! What was his name? Gerri.

Hi Gerri I found him on the 1881 Census, Frederick Kemp. Not quite sure where I would find the admissions for the School as I think he also had Brothers. My Great Aunt, the only surviving Child of Frederick does not know very much about her Dad. Linda

Check with LMA at: 40 Northampton Road London EC1R 0HB Tel: 020 7332 3820 Email: ask.lmaATcityoflondon.gov.uk (replace AT with the usual at symbol you would use for email addresses). Cheers, Horatia

Yes, I got my ancestor's details from the LMA. It was fantastic ... they gave me this dusty old ledger to go through. I leafed through it page by fragile page and then.... hand written... all the details I had been hoping for. You'll want the Admissions Register and the Creed Register.

Thank you very much for your replies. Will sort out going to LMA asap. Once again Thanks Linda

Linda, I would check that they have these records before you go to the LMA, unless you are going there anyway. Cheers, Horatia
