Witness to marriages

Does anyone know what age you had to be. To witness a marriage certificate in the 1800s. Manythanks Thelma

You didn't (and still don't) have to be any particular age. You just have to be old enough to understand what is going on. Kath. x

Thanks Kath do you happen to know why I cannot trace a death certificate, I know he died between 1901&1912.Found his wife burial in 1912 in a paupers grave.On her death cert she was a widow Many thanks

There is a duncan McCallum aged 48 Birkenhead 1902 (1) 8a 349 Do you know when he was born?

Hi Jack, Catherine Mccallum died feb 1912, and Duncan mccallum who I cannot find BMD He was on the 1901 census name misspelt (Mccallund) Many thanks Thelma

I have got that cert no joy. On the 1901 census he was 50 that is all I know.
