Guard your tree information

Thanks GR, have received the hot matches for my tree - , but why did I receive them when I deleted my tree about 3 months ago? Do you still have my tree amongst your information? Not very happy about this to say the least

Trish Yes, of course they still have your information - why do you think the numbers only ever go UP and not down. To be fair to GR, it does state in the T and C's that anything you put on this site is the property of GR to do with as they will. OC

Hi OC :-)) Oh well, that's alright then - they obviously don't mind about some of the dates being wrong lol.

Trish No, that cheers me up too, every time I think about it, lol! OC

And Im sure every time someone reloads their tree, they just add on the numbers at GR.

Yes, I noticed that, OC. And, recently, not only have the numbers being going up and up, but they're rounded up to the nearest million, which I find a bit annoying. I'm not a maths person, but I do like seeing the big, exact numbers and I think it's a shame they're not there any more. I never thought that if you loaded your tree multiple times it would just add the new number on. How very crafty. (So that logically means that, even if I deleted my tree tomorrow, the numbers would not go down by 1150 because a, they're in millions, and b, they won't ever shrink the number.)

Hi Trish If you do a name search for a person who was on a tree that's now been deleted, they still come up but with the owner 'unknown'! When you click on 'send message' nothing happens. Proves that they still keep tree info, but what really is the point of that?! Mandy :)

Mandy It is so they can continue to make misleading statements about the number of 'ancestors' available to search on this site. Ooops - I can feel my time running out on here....lol OC

Actually I received an e-mail from someone that had been off of this site for a few years and they were pleased to see all their info still up.

I always wonder why if someone registers on the site and never adds another name it still counts as a tree of 1.

yes think that must be so my sister-in-law opened up a tree and closed it this year the only name she had on it was hers lol

I am sure that GR aren't that contrived!!! We shouldn't be so negative

Beverley Your faith is touching! There may be one million names to search on this site, but there are NOT one million individual people to search - some people appear 40 times, if my hot matches are anything to go by. OC

Never mind, on the grand scale of things, it's not important

So if GR insist on keeping trees that people have now deleted from here would that explain the number of Micky and Minnie Mouses that are here? Or Father Christmas? Just think of all those daft kids that have come here and put on a free tree with an absolute load of drivel for info. I'm sorry but I don't care about the T&C's, I have deleted my tree and I think it's morally wrong for GR to retain this info and send out to other people.
