What`s annoying me at the moment is a not getting a reply from a hotel in Ireland where my ggrandmother worked in 1895. I`ve sent 2 letters with Irish stamps on envelopes and an e- mail . If they don`t know the history it would be polite to just reply with a --sorry don`t know the history, Ros

hello everyone, I can imagine it being very annoying. I'm a relative newbie and I'm always extremely grateful whenever anyone has spent the time helping me. I've had lots of people who have responded to queries and questions above and beyond what I've asked for and have always made a point of thanking them. A part from being genuinely grateful for the help, its just good manners isn't it? Carole

Thanks for the support folks. Yes ,Maureen it's annoying when you use your credits, which cost money,(not to mention your time!)+ don't get any feedback! I agree 'Still looking' I am always really thrilled when I find someones ancestor. I know exactly what you mean about the 'buzz'. I Think I might start my own Black Book , good idea,Jennifer!! That said ...........really it's the minority, who should know better! ,who lack the courtesy to answer us. Please note..............I don't mean NEW people who can't be expected to know.

I agree it is infuriating, and I now keep a black list. It is even worse, when you have responded with information, you later find the thread has been deleted without acknowledgement. Jennifer

Obviously, if you are NEW you may not know how to add a message to your thread! If you don't know how, just ask:) It is most annoying when you spend time finding info etc for people + then you are left 'dangling' wondering if it helped etc. When I first started on here I was totally lost but with the help of others eventually found my B/Family history. It was a dream come true + I would never have done it without the support of folks on here. I + many others, more experienced than me, like to 'give something back' by helping others. PLEASE acknowledge our replies so we know we aren't wasting our time. Thanks Moan Over!! Ann
