Back up your file and give it a different name. Go to File in the top left corner and the merge option instructions are there, you will have to click on on the > sign to get all the names from the left window into the right window and then merge, FTM will show you a list of what it thinks are duplicates, check the details of each and you decide if you want to merge that person or not. If you are not sure look in the Help section at the top of the page. Carol www*genealogyprinters*com

Yep You can open it withion FTM and keep it as a separate file or merge it (or parts of it) into your existing file. Before you try it though make sure your original file is backed up, just in case you encounter a problem. There is a topic about it on the helpcentre (with screenshots) but it's a huge url to try and put on here. I just caught your post but have to log off for the night.. Glen

If somebody sends me a copy of their gedcom which has been done in FTM, is there a way I can merge it with my tree on FTM? Thanks, Laura
