Cheers managed to do that, now got another problem. Myself and my sister and brother all have new surnames from our birth surnames. What do I do when adding my brothers details i.e. he was originally Brocklesby but has been Jackson for 30 years, do I change his details to Jackson or keep them as Brocklesby? Mandy |

Yes Mandy, you can just add both of your mother's marriages/relationships. On a tree drawn from that your Mum would be 'connected' to the two men and one 'connection' would have a line with 3 children on and the other 'connection' would have a line with one child. The each of the children go on to have lines of their own. Anne |

Thanks started doing that, however, I have another problem, my mum had 4 children but 3 were to one father and one to another, do I only include one couple and their children? Am I able to add my half sister and her father? |

I try not to add too many of the siblings children, although I do add their spouses. Sometimes however, I find that if you are having trouble going back further in a particular line, then to add the siblings children will often help connect you with other's trees, and often can help in getting you back further, if that makes sense ! |

I include all brothers/sisters and their spouses and their children but I don't include the spouses parents or siblings as they are not related to me. Hope that makes ense! Sam x |

Mandy, There are no hard and fast rules as to how far sideways to go. Sometimes, to go backwards you need to go sideways! However, I think most people get the greatest satisfaction from researching backwards as far as they can. The only rule is you're not supposed to include or share living relatives with others...it's in the rules somewhere. Keep asking for help as you go along...someone will be able to help you out I'm sure! Mandy |

Can anyone please help. I am just beginning with my family tree and I am unsure of how far to go. Is the adviseable to put on all brothers and sisters in their wives and husbands, and their children? Then if I start adding aunts and uncles do I add their spouses and children et??? Mandy |
