Hi Richard, I live 2 minutes from the archive centre, so if there is anything I can do to help just pm me. Shelley

I've had contact with Richard Durack and found him to be incredibly helpful if you have family history connections in Newham. Cheers, Horatia

Try the London Metropolian Archives who may possibly hold records. If they do not maybe can advise if they are in existence anywhere else. Have always found them very helpful. Julie

Does anybody know if these institutions kept any records on their residents/inmates and whether they are likely to have survived. My 4 great grandmother was a resident of Gifts Lane Alms House in West Ham for around 25 years, and was just wondering whether this is an avenue worth exploring to try and find out some more info on her, rather than the basic birth, death, marraige info which is sadly all I have for her so far.
