Well, some of you (especially Heather Positive Thinker!) will remember my post about the Pudner family. I tried to add this to that but couldn't find it! Today I had my first trip to a records office, the Plymouth and West Devon one. Before going I thought I wouldn't be able to look at Manaton/Ashcombe records as they didn't come under Plymouth or W Devon but because Devon has 3 offices, most of the info is kept as copies at each one! Wahoo! So, I searched Manaton and found nothing. Then I searched Ashcombe and hit the jackpot! All I knew was that Frederick was born 1837 in Manaton or Ashcombe. I thought he was linked to the Pudner family I found there, but couldn't find the actual link. Today I found it. His mother is Susanna Pudnor who then went on to marry a Harvey (explaining the Harvey connection later on). He does not have a father on the baptism even though later on in his marriage certificate his father is down as 'John Pudner' - another relative maybe? YAY! Am so chuffed! It means I can go that one step back! Also, it means I now know I'm definitely linked to some people on here with Pudners in their tree. unfortunately I still haven't heard from them though I messaged them after xmas about the possible link - maybe they're no longer members? GROAN Anyone, a good mornings work, am rather pleased and will prob now spend all evening looking up connected info! Laura x |
