Who was to know this would be so hard. I have emailed some people on this website with no response who may have the links to my partners family. I have researched my partners family (birth father) as they lost contact when he was 2. I have found him on the BDM- Alexander Cloudsdale born 4th quarter in 1956 in Barrow F, Cumbria. I believe he had a sister Margaret born Jul-Sep 1951 in Ulverston... their mothers maiden name was Robertson, so im guessing they were brother and sister. I also found a Jayne Cloudsdale born in 1958 Oct-Dec and her mothers name was Robinson....... I can not find her parents though and was wondering if this was a mistake on the BDM and if infact her mothers maiden name was the same as Alexanders and Margarets (that being Robertson), and she is infact another sister. She was born in Barrow F, which is the same place as Alexander. I have managed to find Jayne's married name and her daughters, but can not find anything for Margaret (I found another Margaret Cloudsdale born in 1944 in Salford and there was a Margaret Cloudsdale married in 1969 in Salford, so I have a feeling this was her and not the Margaret I am looking for (maybe she wasnt married!!) I can also not find anymore information on Alexander. All I have for him is a birth year and a marriage year (1977)! Can someone help me... I dont know where to go from here, and how I can find this information out. Thanks so much, Kristin :-)

Hi Kristin We have Robertson relatives who often get Robinson, so it seems feasible that the 1958 is another sister - so do you want to go backwards to their parents, or forwards and find them now - was I was born in 1958, so there's a good chance these people are still around. Diane

Thanks Diane. I am wanting to go forwards. If Jayne was born a Robertson (not a Robinson as in the BDM), then she would be my partners Aunty. I have found that she was married to a Francis Forrest in Oct-Nov-Dec 1978 and that she has 2 children, Emma Jane Forrest born Jan-Mar 1981 in Whitehaven and Lindsey Marie Forrest born Jun 1984 in Cumberland. I have found a Lindsey Marie Forrest born in the same year and emailed her a while back but have not heard anything back so am hunting again! (Curiosity killed the cat!) It's just so exciting to think that he could have cousins! All the information I have, I have found through reading through 50 years of the BDM under the name Cloudsdale... so I may be completely wrong! We both live in Australia which makes it even more difficult. Any information you may have would be fantastic :-)

Hi again I am in Australia too, so I am not much good on current UK things - isn't it annoying when you contact someone and they don't bother to email back ? I had one like that - in the end I just sent a request to look at her tree - at least I could see how much see knew and how she fitted into my tree, so perhaps just asking for that might work. I have never had any more contact with my reluctant rellie - and I can take our common tree back another 7 generations!! So was your partner born here or in England - I mean could Alexander be in Australia ? Have you tried the English White pages ? Someone might be able to look up the English Electoral Roll, perhaps ? At least you would know if they are still around. Diane

Being in Australia is so frustrating... it seems as though we are a world away! I have sent a request to look at the family tree but I still cant access it.... its getting to be really annoying. Sounds like you have had some success with your tree. I have only been working on mine for a week (well my partners), but I just need to know a bit more from an actual person, rather than just reading through the BDM register. My partner Lewis was born in the UK, and only relocated to Australia 4 years ago. Lewis hasnt seen his dad or had only contact with his family in 16/17 years on that side. He could be anywhere! We are more so interested in cousins though, knowing who is out there related. Im just praying we get an email from someone with some information soon! Thanks for all your help Kristin :-)

Hi Kristin I have been leaving messages on the internet since 1999, and get contacts from things I left sometime ago. There are other places to put messages as well as Genes, although its very good. You could try the Rootsweb message boards, or mailing lists ( you can access both from rootsweb(.)com) and also a website called curiousfox, which is set out by placename. I hope someone checks back with you soon, its such a frustrating hobby and I can only be thankful I don't have to wait for snail mail anymore !! Best of luck Diane

Hi Kristin I think I went to school with Alexander - well, he was a year or so older than me, but I will send you a pm. I'll try and look for him for you, but if you can pm me with his marriage details, I'll know if it's the same one. Kind regards Patricia
