Hi all was reading the messagaes on here and would love to know if anyone has come across a family bible for the names of WHEATLEY, PETTENGELL and PRENDERGAST. This was in the family untill about 5-10 years ago when my grandparents died it was in the wrong hands of a family member who sold it for recreational money !!! it was ment to go to my father.... He would love to know that we had managed to get it back, will look on ebay, didnt realise people sold these Thanks Tara

It's awful that someone would sell such a thing isn't it? I recently rescued my daughter-in-law's grandmother's bible. She had been selling boxes full of books at a car boot sale and those that didn't sell she brought to us as our local rugby club sells books to raise income. Her grandmother's bible was amonst them and I couldn't believe she would just get rid of it. Although it wasn't the type of family bible that has births and deaths written in the front, it was a gift to her grandmother on her ninth birthday, and I couldn't bear to dispose of it, so now it's cluttering up my house instead of my son's, lol. Hi Tara :) Saw your name and just thought I'd say hello! Hope your research is going well and that things are ok with you. Yes, there are often family bibles (and other interesting family history items) on Ebay, it's well worth checking from time to time. Mandy :) x

Hi Kathleen that is so sad. i dont understand why people do this. If they no longer want it then it should be offered to another family member, but then i suppose they have there reasons, It was nice of you to take it in though... Tara xxx
