I agree it is probably the re-use of what was once a family surname. If Kathleen is correct with her second suggestion I think you just have to be thankful they were not in Shitlington.............. Gail.

Is this Hickleton Charlesworth? He's the only one with that name recorded on Ancestry. Maybe it was a surname from past generations, or maybe his parents were ahead of the Beckhams and named him after the place he was conceived, lol. Kath. x

HICKLETON - as in Hickleton Mine Yorkshire. Was poor man named after mining accident at the pit?
