Where did you export your tree from and where did you save it to? If you exported your tree from FTM or GR then you need to save the gedcom file to your computer. GR send the file as an e-mail attachment. You then send this file as an e-mail attachment to whoever you wish to send it to, this person also needs to have some software package (ie FTM) to allow them to open the gedcom file.

Can any one help. I have exported my family tree and now want to send it by email to a family member. How do I do this? can any one advise. It seems to go into Family treemaker and then I can only email my details and not my whole tree. Thanks Marcelle

Where are you exporting it from - Family Tree Maker or GenesReunited? If you are exporting it from Genes, you will recive your tree as an attachment to an email which you can then save on your computer. The person you are emailing it to will need to have family tree software on there computer to be able to open it though. Sam x

If you send a gedcom they have to have some sort of software that can read a gedcom. FTM is one preogramme that can but there are others such as Family Historian and Legacy.

I can't help but ask, why if you have FTM have you exported your tree from GR. Using FTM you can make a gedcom of your tree (or part of it) in less than a minute, it saves all the bother of waiting for the GR export.
