Prison Sentence - Any way of finding out ........

I have received information that a relative served a prison sentence in about 1870. Does anybody know how to go about confirming this or getting details please. Thank you, Roger

Hi Roger, Have you tried the local papers? The main libraries in the area may have an account of the trial, I found a pre trial report in the paper and a post trial report from 1871. Our main library are very helpful, even sending copies of the articles very cheaply. Maybe if you get in touch with the library they will be willing to look for you and assist.
