Driver of (horse-drawn) vehicles for transporting goods. Carmen were often employed by railway companies for local deliveries and collections of goods and parcels. Modern day van driver. Also sometimes someone who drove horse-drawn trams was called a Carman. |

Most of the occupations.on page, start with a capital. |

Hi there, I am struggling to read an occupation on the 1901 census and wondered if anyone has a free moment, they would be able to look at it for me please. The person I am looking at is William Coxall born 1876 in Chelsea. He is married to Emily and they are the only two people in the household. He is listed as a worker, but occupation I am unsure of. I won't say what I think it is, to see if anyone can come up with anything else. Many thanks. Nicky |
