Thanks for the mention peeps. There will usually be some empty pages on an All in One tree when it's produced using FTM. Both FTM & GR use the same format when it comes to laying out the All in One tree, the layout is not usually very pleasing to look at and most of the time the tree is taller than it is wide with single people stuck out on long single lines for no reason or children placed on the tree miles below their parents which we think is not the way it should be. Using either of these methods to print a tree there is no facility to alter the layout of that tree, you cannot move branches around to improve the layout for example. We have 37 different programs but only a few of these will produce an All in One tree, we very rarely use FTM to print this all in one type of tree, we use a program called Genbox. This program allows you to move anything on the tree, single or groups of boxes or even half the tree if you wish, Genbox produces a far better looking tree than FTM or GR. I printed my whole tree! 44 pages but some are blank due to the way its set out, had pages lined up all over the lounge floor. I am very glad I did it as I have noticed some very obvious mistakes, not to mention three family groups with no connection with anyone else - they are just sitting there all alone.....now I have to try and fix it all!

Just done a preview on mine ( 500 individuals ), there would be several pages with no names shown (incomplete branches mostly). The little dimension box at the bottom says the whole thing would be 2.33 metres by 1.77 metres. That's close to 8 feet by 6 feet altogether!!!!

Thanks Glen. So it's the All In One tree that does everyone. I will have a go now.

Click on the 'tree charts' box (next to the magnfying glass on the globe at the top of the screen). A dropdown menu comes up, select 'all in one tree' (it is the bottom option). FTM will then make a preview of your tree complete with the outline of the pages displayed, you can then see how many pages it will cover. On the right hand side of the preview screen you can play with the 'items to include', text font and colour, box style etc by clicking the boxes and selecting from the options. When you have the look you want hit the print icon at the top of the screen. Glen

I would prefer to print my own first so I can see whats missing etc before getting it done professionally. How do I print it all on FTM? I know it's going to be a mission to put all the pages together but I have plenty time to spare at the moment. Thanks :-)

You can print out an all in one tree from FTM2005, but you will end up with lots of pages of A4 which will have to be stuck together. As already suggested, Genealogy Printers is a much better idea if you want everything on one large piece of paper. Kath. x

I use FTM as well as Genes. I would like to print my whole tree which contains just over 300 people on FTM (not all on here). I am not sure if this is possible though. I would like to be able to put it on a wall chart so I can see who is where and connected to whom! It's all getting very confusing.
