Hi, I was hoping someone with more knowledge in this area might be able to help me. My relative fought in ‘The Canadian Infantry (Quebec Regiment)’. Does this mean that he would have been in Canada when he signed up/was conscripted or could he have been in England and just ended up being put in the Canadian Army? Thanks a lot to anyone who can help!

My ancestor fought for the Canadians in WW1 - he was a home child sent out to Canada by Barnardos. Irene

Thanks Willow, I'll try that website.

Hi You'll find the answer at: www.collectionscanada.ca There you will find your relative's attestation papers, online and free if I recall correctly. If you need more you can order up his service record, although that is not online. I did just that for my relative and received 35 pages, including dental records! Denis.

Hi Denis, where can I get that from? I just have to recommend the website that Willow sent me to, 1914-1918.net, thanks to a member on that board, I have just viewed a photo of Walter! I've never seen one before as they all got taken to Canada with his mother.

Hi Hannah OK, I see GR doesn't seem to like that web adddress. Let's try again: www(.)collectionscanada(.)ca Just remove the brackets. If that doesn't come through then I'll send you a pm. Denis
