Have you contacted any of your mother-in-law’s siblings to see if they can give you any further information, like where and when he was born. Somebody might even know his date of birth and who his parents were. If not then you will need to get hold of his marriage certificate as that will have his father’s name on it. Also his death certificate will also have his date of birth so a copy of that would also help. Once you have all of this information then you can apply to the relevant Irish GRO for his birth certificate. Hope this helps. Regards…Teresa |

If you enter Irish in the search box at the top of the page here it will bring up all the threads for searching for Irish ancestors - not easy Im afraid. That late date though may mean you could apply to Irish GRO for a cert. |

id like info on william dodge born in ireland around 1904 ?? think his mother maiden name was mary jones he left ireland when he was bout 14 or 15 and when he moved to england changed his name to jones he married a annie breward think they married in about 1920 ?? they had 7 kids one of them being my mother in law she was born 1938 they lived on matlock avenue soth wigston leicester but the info i want is when william was in ireland how do i start looking for him ?? can anyone help me plz sarah |
