Within the last week I've been approached twice on genes reunited offering me family bibles (....ie with family names written in them....) the first was a remote family member, the second is off more interest. Do u think it's a coincidence that this has cropped up twice? Has anyone else been offrered a famly bible?Genuine or scam? Thx Una

Una If anyone offered ME a family bible with my family names in it, I would bite their hand off!!! I am trying to imagine what kind of scam this could be - did they want big money? OC

Perhaps it was the same bible and they had seen it on ebay or something - they often come up on there. What were the details? How much did they want?

Una, Did the bible belong to the Gladwish Family? If so then, it was me. I sent a tip off note to an GR member called 'Una Bobby' Sorry if you misundertood my intentions. I and a few other GR members regularly look on the eBay Auctions to check out if there are any Family Bibles for sale that might possibly belong to a GR member. We dont buy or sell them, if the seller on eBay has given information on the Family name in the bible, then we look for that name in the SEARCH faculty here on GR. Occasionally, we find the name and contact the GR member that has put it on here and simply tell them what we have found. I have been looking on eBay for about a year now and have found a home for a lot of bibles. But do you think I could find mine! I think it would be too much for my ticker if I saw it! Ann

Yes ur right ....and the second contact seems very genuine too and now I feel ashamed I obviously have been watching too much of 'The Real Hustle'...It just seemed abit of a coincidence to be offered 2 in a couple of days...the coincidence probably is that the good people of Icklesham liked to write their names in bibles....I'm really sorry and I hope that people would contact me again if u seen anything of interest. No they are 2 different ones and the first was too remote in my tree to be of interest ....the second belongs to my gt grandfathers brother's descendants and I'm now helping in the search to find them...... I do feel bad that I always think the worst....SORRY Una

No, I think the owner wants it to go to a closer relative than me aand I've been working hard to find one. However, in the process I've found some more 'lost' relatives and I'm real;y excited about that...so it's win-win...... If I was a bad person (which I swear I'm not!) I might be out there buying a stock of ye olde bibles ..... No my contact seems really nice and has helped me alot TTFN Una Oh and Ann I'm still SORRY
