Ive bumped up a newbies thread for you to read through. But as Reggie says start with the solid facts you have, write them down and work backwards, your parents marriage cert, their birth certs (unless they are still alive and can supply mum and dads names) then marriage cert of grandparents, going backwards til you hit the golden date of 1901 when you can then turn to the census info - though you will still need to confirm facts by buying the certificates from GRO online at £7. |

Start with yourself........then your parents, and grandparents. Work back steadily, till you get to 1901, when you can start using the censuses to locate people in England/Wales. Ireland is a different story...........records can be difficult to track down. Read the threads on here which offer tips and advice to newbies.......really useful. Don't be afraid to ask for help............. And be prepared to become addicted..............!! Good luck Reg |
