I am trying to find out anything about my great great grandmother Elizabeth Rose, all I know about her is that she gave birth to my great grandfather Frederick William Rose in the union workhouse, Old Stratford in September 1878 but by the time of the 1881 census there is no sign of them. Does any one have any idea what would have happened if she had found a job in service, would she have been able to have her baby with her? If not who would have been likely to have looked after him? I have gone through the 1871 and 1881 censuses in alphabetical order but can find no trace of her on either. I must have missed something somewhere so any advice given wil be most welcome. Carol

Thanks Georgina I'm not sure if that is the same Elizabeth Rose, I've looked on the1881 census alphabetically and there is a couple named Henry and Elizabeth Jones but they don't have a child named Frederick with them. I am stumped.
