Hi tracy,i use GSP my sister bought it for me and i find it incrediably easy to use and i can navigate it really easy, the only thing i would suggest if you buy it is to back up the files as my laptop has crashed a few times when i've been using GSP and it has corrupted the file i was using, but luckily enough my OH is a whizz with comps and had backed up my files!! But all in all i'd reccommened it as its just so easy to use. xx

I think most of us use Family Tree Maker in one form or another, its easy, you can do reports, trees, add photos, print out books, change people around, add notes, add video clips, export it all to a free home web page at the click of a button - what more can I say! Oh, except you can back it up to internet storage and cd so you have it in at least 3 places safely. If you are looking to buy the de luxe version, dockland ancestors have a real bargain at the moment - £25.99 de luxe PLUS 90 days ancestry sub. google dockland ancestors, go to the shop and enter a search for genealogy software. The sub alone is worth £20.

Do you get the 90 day ancestry sub worth £20 with the bbc one? Not a terrific difference to the standard 2006 version, except you get the extra cds to help you work out how to use it.

Thanks guys, the bbc website at the moment are offering it at £23.99. is there much difference between the deluxe and the 'plain version'

Tracy

Tracy Report 11 Feb 2007 17:16

Go for it then! The standard one comes with 30 days sub on dockland ancestors but is £12.99 I think.

Standard one is £6 or £7 at Morrisons with 30 day free trial

The thing to remember with all these offers is the the actual FTM program that does the biz for you is exactly the same. The only difference is with the 'extras' that you get. The value of the 'free cd's' is debatable. Ancestry subscription offers, on the other hand, are well worth looking at, if you are not already a subscriber.

thanks everyone for your info. i have now purchased the deluxe mainly because of the 90 day sub for ancestry.
