Hi, any help on the RE. My grandfather was Captain/Major in the RE around 1939-1945. Stationed in Haywards Heath, Sussex. I know he was posted to Singapore within that time. I have contacted the RE located in Kent and tried the british Legion for his army details, unfortunately we do not have any certificates only letters from the army. Can anyone help Thanks for reading Lisa |

Depends on what you want to know? You could put his details on forcesreunited? To get his record you have to contact the army (Glasgow) and pay about £30 for them. Google Army records. They will require evidence that he is deceased and you are next of kin. |

Hello Heather, I could only wish..whilst reading my grandfathers letters I wrote the number hoping that would be the one, unfortunately it had both characters...(letters and numbers). I am now taking 1step forward 2steps back. My only hope is to take the letter to the RE Office I have a meeting with the librarian... Have you any other positive ideas? Regards Lisa |

The only way to get his records is through the army records office, you need to be the next of kin or have his permission, here is the address and phone number, they will send you an information pack. Officers or Soldiers whose regular or reserve service ended between 1921 and 1997 Army Personnel Centre HQ Secretariat Historical Disclosures Mail Point 400 Kentigern House 65 Brown Street Glasgow G2 8EX Tel: 0845 600 9663, option 1, then option 3 Roy |

Do not despair, with that amount of info, Im sure you will get a positive result. Take down the numbers and letters as Im not a military buff, one may come along on here later. |
