Sorry Ryan theres no easy way. You have to start with 'you' your parents and grandparents...so on and so on. Your birth cert will give you your parents. Find your parents marriage and/or births and that will give you thier parents. . Get it? Good fun init? lol Good luck Gerri. |

They didn't stop the census after 1901 Ryan. It's just that there is a 100 year closure on census records, so the 1911 census will be released after 2011 (with the possibility it might be released a couple of years early according to the National Archives site). Kath. x |

1841, properly (ie with names). There were censuses taken before, but they were mainly head counts of people living at each addresses. They don't have names on them (although I've heard there was the occasional pre-1841 census where names were taken). The ages were rounded to the nearest five years (if over 15) and the only information about birthplace was a Y or N in the 'Born in same county' column, but sometimes you might find a 'Born in Scotland or Ireland' box ticked. They did have a bit of information about occupations on there. In 1851 and then afterwards, not only the names, but the ages, birthplaces and relation to head of household were included. |

Ryan, get yourself an ancestry sub for all the census info 1901-1841 - at £80 a year (cheaper if you go through quidco*com - for a £12 cashback) it will be so useful, 24/7 use - lots of other stuff including the full bmd index - it will save you time and a lot of money. |
