My Uncle, Frederick James Haynes was on HMS Fleur de Lys when it was torpedoed off Gibralter on 14th October 1941 by a U Boat. My understanding is there were only three survivors and Fred was not one of them. This was before I was born. I am in New Zealand and thus unable to physically look up Naval Service Records. If anybody is a visitor to the records office and would be kind enough to obtain my Uncles Service record details I would be most grateful and pay any expenses incured. My Father and Fred grew up in the care of Barnados so any and all information I can obtain about Fred wouyld be valuable to me emotionally. Many thanks, Roger |
