Help! Am desperately trying to find some information on Margaret Crilley (born approx 1855 and died in 1901)and her husband James Bruce (born 1854 scotland and died 1923). Had 4 children I am aware of and moved to London from Scotland about 1883. Cannot get back any further than this - have been trying so long but to no avail!!!! Can anyone help? Thanks Michelle |

Have you looked for the childrens births (if they where born in Scotland) and their Marriage on Scotlandspeople? Do you have them on the 1881 census? Mhairi |

Is that the correct 1891 census? Where was James born? Is he their son or some other relation? Scottish census and BMD are on Scotlandspeople.gov.uk (indexs of 1841/51/61 are on ancestry) Mhairi |

Cannot find the scotland census info or their marriages or births. Their eldest son (archibald) was born in Scotland in 1882 (from a later English census record) the other children were born once they had moved to London Michelle |

There are 5 Archibald Bruce births in Scotland between 1880 and 1884, two in 1882. A few members on here have access the 1881 scottish census on disk, perhaps asking for a 1881 lookup (quoting the 1891) would be the way to go, once you've found the area they are in you shoul be able to narrow down the births even further. Birth cert of one of the children who was born in Scotland may give you a marriage date. Mhairi |
