I think they were living at a farm, but only by looking at maps from the time, and studying the route taken by the census enumerator can you get some idea of the exact location. Sometimes you can be lucky and a dwelling will be next to a pub or school and the building is still there. Further study of land owners and their tenants (from documents at county Record Offices) at the dates involved can also assist. |

Heather Yes thanks bought my first one at the beginning of th month, very excited when it came to find I was on the right lines. My only problem is that there's so much to do that I keep flitting from one line to another. 4 hrs a night on the lap top, not sure hubby is happy about getting this wireless network for Christmas!! |

Yes by the 1951 census he had married a lady called Emma, but i can't find a marriage certificate, I have all the census records going back from 1901 to 1841 with my family thread going through generally they all resided in Wem and St Giles. Emma was born in Petton I think! |

Hello, The 1841 census does not give relationships between people. The // before a name means a new building is being listed, and in this there could be more than one family or group - each of these is separated by a single /. In your example, the four sevants are in the same building as Ann Tunnah, a farmer (listed on the previous page), but they are in separate accommodation. To find parents in this case may not be easy. The 1851 census might give information as to his place of birth. There may be a baptism on IGI. A marriage cert could give the name and occupation of his father. You might then have to search Paris Records for information. Hope this helps Hilary |

There are some on the IGI.......but you'd need the father's name from a marriage cert to cross-refer. Select records to download - (50 maximum) 1. On the Woolverley page the entry for Thomas Shone aged 18 has an M and either an F or S in the occupation column can anyone tell me what they mean. And why do the households not seem to have families in them just a mixture of various people? Sue |
