Hi Paul Thanks for all that information...much appreciated. That gives me something to go on. I don't know that area of London at all, only Hammersmith where my aunty used to live, mind you I haven't been there since the 1980's! |

I have had success in finding out via two routes. On a few I have contacted the cemeteries department for the area on line. Portsmouth are particularly good. You need to know exactly where and when he died. With others I have contacted the Record Office for the area they died in. I have always received an answer and always a helpful one. Not tried the London ones though. Ann Glos |

If he was a practising catholic with surviving relatives then very much doubt he was cremated. He probably buried in the catholic part of the local cemetery after a catholic service at his local church. A check on the local funeral directors may help or an enquiry to the local Councils parks & cemeteries dept giving all the details you have from the death cert Shirley |

Received my Granddad's death certificate to day and I do know he was buried somewhere in London. He died in 1959. His address was Glenilla? Road, Hampstead, NW3. He was also of the Catholic faith but I don't know if that makes any difference as to where he might be buried.....Teresa |
