It could be a bad entry. On the other hand, the age recorded at death is given by the person registering the death, they don't need to provide proof. Depending on who registered it, they may not have been sure when he was born or how old he is. Also census ages can vary wildly - have you found the birth registration? Sam x

I am researching our family tree and have had some success. However, the ages I have on a marriage certificate, the 1901 census and a possible death are way out! I have Robert Silk as being 48 in 1902 (marriage) Chipping Sodbury 55 on the 1901 Chipping Sodbury census and possibly 58 when he died in 1914! Devizes. Any one any ideas as it has stumped me? The census would make his birth 1846 but what about the death in1914 - he should be 68 and the record says 58 or is it a bad entry? any help much appreciated from a relative newbie! Thanks Lyn

You would need to obtain the cert to find out who registered the death, in order to be sure that you have the right person.........have you checked 1901 census to ascertain if there was another person with the name whose age was about 10 years' different? Reg
