You have to look an the bmd index to find a birth, marriage or death. Try freebmd and if its not on there you go to ancestry and search the full bmd which is not transcribed - so you check the images. Certainly your dad should be on there. Did you find your sisters and yours on the index? The Irish one wont be on there - as you know the exact date then you can always contact the Irish GRO and buy it. If you enter Irish in the search box at the top here you can bring up some helpful stuff. |

Tina, Molly, could very well have been Mary. Have you tried looking for the Death of Mary Murray? M. Steer |

Thanx for all your help. Unfortuantely Mollie was not my g grans name my mum is unaware of her birth name she was always known as mollie. I do not know who registered her death i do not know any of my grandads family as we grew up in bristol and they lived in ireland except my grandad. My mother also doesn't know where my grandads birth certifacte is and i cant locate a refrence for this. Thanx |

Tina, the birth cert for Grandad - take it you contacted the Irish GRO as the ancestry bmd index doesnt have Irish records. |

Tina As it is a recent event...If you obtain a copy of Molly's death certificate it will give her maiden name. Does someone in the family have it? That's assuming whoever registered the death knew what her maiden name was. Good luck Chris |

Do you know roughly when/where your grandad will have married? If you can get his marriage certificate then it will tell you his father's name and occupation. Sam x |
