Are there any online records for settling in Australia between 1908 and 1946? It would be New South Wales area. Also, is there a passenger list online for 1857 to Melbourne? I tried to look, but not getting any help from Google this time.

Thanks Laurie. Sorted the 1857 one. Still not sure about the NSW ones though.

The online BMD records for NSW are births to 1906, marriages to 1956 and deaths to 1976. There are a few passenger lists here covering the period between 1926 and 1947: http://www.naa.gov.au/The_Collection/recordsearch.html Choose 'search now as a guest' and then click on 'Passenger index' at the top of the page. You can find records of servicemen who served in WW1 and WW2 on the same site.
