In fact Kew do hold records, but only for a brief period around the 1850's when captains of ships were requred to give the names of any foreign nationals arriving in British ports. I have examined them myself. They are in boxes of about 1,000 sheets with the entries hand-written, so of course many are illegible. Each box represents three months and are arranged by date, so if you're looking for a name without a date you have a lengthy job.

Highly unlikely there are any . they would just have booked tickets and came over as foot passengers. My grt Grandparents came from Germany between 1880 & 1889 but i not been able to find any records .I looked at Kew for them and was told nothing held. You may like to search to see if they took naturalization Shirley

Hiya, new to this family tree search thing, how do I find immigration records and ships logs that they came in on. Would be around the last half of the 1800?
