Refunds from GRO?

Has anybody had any luck getting a refund from the GRO - and how did you manage to do it??? I requested a birth certificate and gave the reference info, forename, surname and mother's maiden name - and they sent me one with the same GRO ref, but completely different person - they obviously didn't check the name (I asked for WHITE and got KELLY!!). I've emailed them twice now, with no luck, and the phone service doesn't give the option of 'Press 6 to complain.' I think it's their mistake and I shouldn't have to pay for it! Many thanks, Suzanne

I haven't needed a refund from them, but they have been very helpful when I have had to phone them about other things. I would just give them a ring and press the option for ordering certificates and when you get through tell them what has happened. I'm sure they will send out the right certificate for you. Kath. x

I think you may have made an error somewhere - what GRO ref did you use? Did you tick the check box, otherwise they wouldnt and would have just sent the obvious let someone check the ref before you do anything else

Well I ordered it again using exactly the same details - and the right one came! It says they're supposed to check the forename and surname, and then you pay for any subsequent checking... But thanks, I'll try calling them! :)
