I don't see his birth. It could be he was born before his parents married but I don't see him under Henry Allen either. Rose

and yet another birth place: Bowine ? is this another village in Hants?

I had thought that his parents were George & Maria but was not sure as he had so many different birth places. His father is listed as George on his marriage certificate to Ann (Miller). All my others seemed to have the same place of birth each time so this one confused me!! Think I will have to try and find his birth and get his certificate to confirm George & Maria as parents. Whitchurch St Mary Bourne and Overton are within a gnats whisker of each other!! If he was an ag lab, he could easily moved between the three for work - I've walked to all 3 in a day - stopping off at the odd 'hostelry' !! Whitchurch is the biggest - almost a small town. St Mary Bourne is a small village and Overton a village. maggie

Hi there. My gtx2 grandfather - Henry Lambden (born c 1849) - seems (according to the Census returns) to have been born in at least three different places in Hampshire - Whitchurch (1891), St Mary Bourne (1881) and Overton (1871). I think each census entry is the right family as the children listed are the right names. I am finding it difficult to find Henry on the 1861 census as there are several different options - depending on the birth place!! He married in 1869 so should in theory be with his parents in 1861........ Does anyone know these villages and whether they were at one time one in the same?
