Hi All I would like some advice on how to go about locating my sister who was adopted at about 6 weeks old in Salford, Manchester. My mother was very young when she fell pregnant and was forced to have her adopted. I only found out 3 years ago that I have a sister, and have been trying to locate her ever since. I only know her pre-adoptive name and her date of birth. Any advise would be very much appreciated. Kirsty

Was she adopted through a particular agency? My sister and I were both born in the Manchester area and we were adopted through the Catholic Children's Rescue Society. If you could find out that, it might be a starting point.

Hi Kirsty, Go to the General Register Office website for information about applying for the Adoption Records, and making contact with your sister. It can be found here: http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/adoptions/accesstoadoptionrecordsforbirthrelatives/ Good luck, Liz :-)
